Close your eyes and imagine yourself at the carnival in Rio, a marketplace in Dakar, a busy street in Havana, a bar in Barcelona or a freaky party in Amsterdam. Open your eyes again, and there is Bernie’s Lounge!
Bernie's Lounge is a 9 piece band with members from all over the world, based in Amsterdam. Top class musicians specialized in a unique blend of Afrobeat, Latin, funk, samba and hiphop. Singer Susana Raya and singer / saxophonist David Beukers know how the work the crowd. Backed up by a dazzling rythm section and sparking horns they'll make sure you will dance until the last note has faded.
Bernie’s Lounge has played numerous festivals like Lowlands, Noorderslag, Amsterdam Dance Event and toured in France, Spain, Italy, Ireland, Belgium, Turkey, Guatemala, Jordan and Brazil.
They played as an opener for the Buena Vista Social Club concerts and performed with guest musicians like trumpet player Roy Paci( Aretuska / Banda Ionica) and afrobeat legend keyboard player Dele Sosimi (Fela Kuti), who are also appaearing at their most recent cd RED mango. This was a release by PIAS. At the releaseparty the Melkweg in Amsterdam was packed. In 2010 a new album with new singer Susana Raya, a rising star in Europe, will be released.

 After many years of working  in Amsterdam, in 2009  Bernie's lounge front-lady Mapi Quintana decided she wanted move back to her home-ground in Asturias. It was hard for us  to let Mapi go. But fortunately SUSANA RAYA, a fine singer player from Spain, Joined the band. She was already appearing in most of the gigs BL did the last 2 and half month.

 They were excelling during their show at the “Amsterdam dance event” 2006. They left the crowd flabbergasted at the Bimhuis in      Amsterdam.This special show included guest startrumpet player Roy Paci from Italy (Aretuska /Banda Ionica) and Keyboard player/ Vocalist Dele Sosimi (Fela Kuti). They also played at the renowned Dutch Lowlands festival 2007.
 In 2006 and 2007 they appeared at Dutch national television for  "de VPRO wetenschaps( Science)-quiz". Each episode of this program has an average of 1 million viewers.
In October 2007 they successfully released their new cd "RED MANGO"(*) at "de Melkweg", one of Amsterdam's 2 most important live stages. Reviews in several music magazines were very positive.
